I’m at Topstitch Atl wrapping up another successful and fun class. It never fails that seeing what my students create leads me to wanting to make more of the very thing I’m teaching. Today my class is finishing up the Coe Trousers and I’m so distracted because now I want to make more of them…
But I have to make clothes for my cruise!
Last week I shared my inspiration and some patterns I plan on using for this cruise and my goal is to really have this finished up this week. I still need to make things for my son too because he’s outgrown all of his clothes from last year. Why do kids grow so fast??!? He needs just about everything. And his mom has been in a bit of a sewing slump… Well, maybe not a slump but raising a puppy and trying to find focus has been, well, lost.
This Week’s Big Sewing Goals
Choose my fabric for the pieces I plan to make - Monday
Cut out Kali Dress, Aurora Jumpsuit, & Goldie dresses and sew - Tuesday
Cut out swimsuits and sew - Wednesday & Thursday
Cut out Saguaro Set & Cover ups - Friday
I think that if I can stick to this timeline I’ll be doing well. I know I’m going to be bringing a Kimono I bought out at Sew Expo with me and that will function as a lot. I also want to make a beach/pool bag to bring with me. That’s an “if I have a lot of spare time” project because I do have a lot of pool bags.
I haven’t been on a cruise in a while so I’m excited and a little nervous.
Things Living Rent-Free In My Head
I recorded a bralette sew a long last week for both the serger and sewing machine that I’m editing and so excited about. I always get super nervous about making lingerie but I really love it so much.
Nerida Hansen decided to rope me back into her drama. I had already been planning on doing an update on her but now we’re moving it to the forefront and recording that this week to give people an update on orders, refunds, etc.
Atlanta Frocktails is coming along! In case you haven’t heard, it’s May 3, 2025 and tickets are rapidly selling. We also just opened up the doors for sponsors!
I’m wrapping up my first zine! This is a member benefit but will also be sold a la carte as well.
My next course in my measurements and fitting classes will be dropped this week along with the next sessions for projector sewing.
So tell me: what are you making this week?
This week - nothing. Got asked by client to do a last minute week long job out of town so no making of any kind. When I get home Friday though, I will be working on my toile for Atlanta Frocktails. Woohoo!
Still working on the last piece of my wearable toile for Atlanta Frocktails. Had to do a last minute request to fly out of town for a client this week so now I am behind by a week.
