Hey Friend!
Happy New Year, Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah, Happy Kwanzaa!
I know this email is hitting your inbox suuuuuper late—in my defense, I had surgery less than a week ago. So let’s catch up, shall we?
Vlogmas 2023 Update
You all… I did it. I completed Vlogmas on YouTube and I’m so so so proud of myself. I honestly couldn’t have done it if I didn’t get the idea from my dear friend Raven. We committed to doing it together and we both completed it.
Here are some takeaways I learned from this:
It doesn’t have to be perfect to provide value.
Create from the heart.
It doesn’t have to be complicated to be worthy.
Simple is normally better.
Pre-prepping helps when you run out of steam.

Happy New Year!
Now traditionally makers do the Make 9. If you’ve never done that, it’s basically where you choose 9 things to commit to make through the year. I love the idea behind it but it doesn’t work for me. Why? Because in January I have a certain amount of patterns available to me but new patterns that I want to try are always coming. So my friend DeJanee suggested choosing 9 skills. I decided on a little hybrid situation.
I also took some time to really do some thinking about 2023. I played small. I doubted myself. I prioritized other people’s goals. And now?
Now I’m ready to recoup, reclaim, and bring back some energy I once had.
Which leads me to…
It’s Jeanuary!!!
I’m so excited to join my friend Nikki in Jeanuary. What’s that, you ask? It’s a month for us to dive deep into the denim world. Now I have sooooo much denim so I need this. I’m envisioning refashioning, upcycling, and having some fun with some denim—including making my dear friend’s first pattern drop The Ranger Jeans from Happily Dressed.
I tested this pattern and the tutorial is AMAZING. I love the ease, the style, the fit and I can’t wait to make it out of denim. If you’re joining Nikki and I on this quest, grab your jean-making kit and check out more details.
I have so many more things to share but we’ll just leave this here.
Until next time, happy sewing!
