Hey friend,
Before we get into today’s love letter to you all, I just want to pat myself on the back for getting back into the swing of legit writing. There was a time that I spent a minimum of 2 hours writing per day and now? Now I’m lucky if I respond to text messages but I’m a work in progress.
January has been the longest month ever and I’ve made maaaaaaybe 5 things. I have motivation to get dressed but after losing 80lbs last year, a lot of things aren’t fitting. AND I feel like I’ve finally really established a style that works for me and a lot of the things in my closet just don’t.
This means it’s time for another closet cleanout.
I plan on doing this again AND I’ve already set up a pickup for my donations with the American Red Cross. One of the BIG things I struggle with is pulling things out and then being like “oh but I really love the fabric”… and then it clogs up space in my life when it could easily be freed for someone else to wear.
Now To Decide What To Make
It’s still pretty chilly here in Atlanta so I’m craving the cozy feels. But I also need to do a WAY better job promoting, sharing and making my patterns. What I plan on doing is actually focusing on making my pieces I’ve designed and drafted. When I design, I always have different hacks in mind but I just haven’t gotten around to them. Now I will!
Turning ME2028 Into Denim Dreams: I have this light colored and weight denim that I want to make into a pleated pant. I plan on playing with the pleats a bit to give me this inspo picture here:
I think I may make this vest too!!!! I love how it’s zipped and not buttoned!
Giving ME2015 sleeves: I LOVE a bustier/corset situation but it’s still chilly!!! So I think adding some sleeves to the bustier and doing some shirring on the back to make it pullover will be perfect.
These are the first 2 of my patterns I’m focusing on. I also plan on making some bras, panties and lingerie as well! I had my post-op check up this week and my plastic surgeon suggested wearing cotton-only bras for awhile to help my auto-inflammatory disease from flaring under my boobs. Perfect reason to make them, right?
What sewing plans do you have for February???
I really love the bustier with the sleeves. Like you, I want to make cozy things but realistically I need to think about what spring will look like for me too. Excitedly waiting for your next make. - L
